It's now late July and I have been in my new home for 4½ months and living alone for twice as long. I have made this little house and garden very cosy and comfortable with a pretty south-facing garden. I keep fairly busy these days with volunteer work and I look after my neighbours, who are very nice folk. No substitute for a happy marriage, but I'm getting by and enjoying helping others.

Thank you folks, for your kind, supportive comments :-)

Neil - our rambling groups haven't started up yet and I haven't really got to know any of them well enough to start an "exclusive" group. Unfortunately I had only just started with them when 'lockdown' occurred. Nevertheless, I am keeping quite busy with the Volunteer Bureau, driving their hospital car service :-)

The other thing - and I hope this doesn't sound silly or defeatist - is that the things I started doing when Caroline and me separated are no longer of interest because they take me back to an incredibly difficult and sad period. I am desperately trying to leave that behind now, so even the thought of the rambling groups, or the 'Men's Shed' fill me with a dark sadness that I cannot cope with. I expect I will see things differently in due course...but it isn't yet awhile.
