Hi there, i will be refreshing my dashboard soon and would like to add some subtle chrome touches.

So, question is ; which supplier is best? Jazz performance or MX5 parts? revieuws from MX5 parts buyers are not always positive, on some items the chrome is blattering off after a few months . Jazz gets better (but fewer) revieuws .

Bought a chrome gaiter ring from IL long time ago and it also lost it's chrome finish (blattering) after a few months.

Personal expieriences are more than welcome here..

As a general comment: many suppliers of aftermarket parts for older or classic cars obtain their parts from the same source which is often Turkey or further east.  Unfortunately the quality is often poor, particularly for chrome where not all the processes are followed.

My only personal experience was with a chrome fuel flap from MX5 parts which started pitting after several years which is rather what I expected.

I am more than happy to reccomend Jazz as a supplier of these parts . They are not cheap but very well designed and hand made in quality materials . I am considering buying a SS Steel Instrument cluster from them but I will have to wait and save up for it !  The other item I have my eye on is an Indicator & light control unit in brushed SS Steel but they say they are still in development .

Provide an enhanced, clean and classic look to the instrument cluster panel in you NA MX5 with this Jass Performance Vintage Style Cluster Bezel.

Preserving essential functionalities, critical panel labels are backlit, featuring safe and adequate light levels, whilst engraved stainless center plates for the dials bring the most out of the stock classic gauge scheme.

On my prospect to interior goodies i came across this US based company; www.retromodernusa.com .....they have some pretty nice items, it's hand crafted and their pricing is acceptable (beside eventual freight charges/import taxes that is....).

Like you I see a lot of nice shiny things on the net for the MX5 and have on occasion bought a few only to be really disappointed at the quality . At least with Jass I know thier items are made by hand in the UK , they are not the only ones mind if you dig deep enough there are little 1-2 man outfits producing some quality items , of course they are not cheap but you get what you pay for in this world . I also appreciate the fact that the owner of Jass is on most of the forums and FB groups and is ready and available to chat over a potential purchase . It could also be that they sent me a couple of items FOC for my Birthday !!

Agree, quality comes at a price and ...on the long term it might even appear cheaper to buy decent stuff.

The Jass staff seems indeed very helpfull and passionate, last year at 5-30 Warwickshire (MX5 owners club event) i had a brief conversation with them and it's obvious that they're serious about their business, he even told me that personal requests are  considered and (if possible) worked out.

I envy you guys in the UK, you have so many MX-5 specialists and shops. We have IL motorsport and ....that's about it.

My guesss is that they refer to the different thombstone variants, not sure if it was for all countries but many had a new design (slightly higher and rounder at top) from 93-94 on i believe..
