I could be wrong but I think speaker wires are grey. Some have a black stripe in the grey to differentiate. A wiring diagram should help. Online for your new radio and a manual for your car.

Hark at me talking elecktrickery. Colour blind old fool.

Thanks Roddy.
My 1995 v spec was fitted with a msss2 stereo, and this was an upgrade. There is a way of sorting this lack of sound from door speakers and it involves lengthening the white connection and joining it to the amp situated behind the dash and near the bonnet release.
This means that there will be no sound from headrest speakers or thumpers( in the seat apparently) although the suggestion on the mx5 parts feedback on the loom is that a new stereo will sound so much better that I won't miss it. I'm not convinced.

The single din stereo is now fitted with a massive thanks to the helpful advice on the mx5 parts page.

This made it clear and when the cable was adapted it works just as good as it possibly could be.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It's good to get opinions and even if you find the answer, it's nice to know that it's ok to ask if you're not sure.
Tim, I definitely will be singing loudly and occasionally the actions will accompany it. Not a pretty sight but who cares. Lol.

I hope you sing better than Liz, Jackie. She likes to sing in the car as well - which is why you'll always find a bag of extra large gobstoppers on my glovebox.  :)

I don't sing well but behind the wheel of my smile mobile who cares- apart from the car in front at a junction or traffic lights, who look at me Strangely( jealously) for having the audacity to be singing out loud in the open air. I just smile and carry on.

Well after buying a single din cubby and got it fitted before realising the error- I needed a 1 and 1/2 din cubby, it's finally in, looking good and I'm chuffed.

@Bengt Kardel are you happy with your JVC stereo? Would you recommend it?

I've been looking for a good car stereo for a few months now without any luck.

Sorry for being off topic.

For some reason all the review sites I've read are all hype. This is why I've joined

this forum to get real deal advice.

I'm on budget so I've eyed the JC KW-R930BTS. And found a good post that put

me on the fence. I've read that the max sound volume is 35 is that sufficient?

What about the complexity? Is it that hard to learn to use it?

Tips and ideas are welcome
