Had the first run out of the year after collecting and fitting my newly refurbed instrument cowl.

Prison broke my baby with a little battery jumper and took him around the block for the first time this year. Poor neglected thing.

Call me thick, Ali - - but have you been to prison?

And if so...why?

Same here Ali.

Of the 4 cars in the house only one is used at a time for essential purposes, usually the Mazda 2 or the Ford Puma.  Our MX5 and Triumph GT6 are permanently garaged.

Neither one of mine has moved except for one trip to work, one across to the bubble and 3 to the pharmacist. I haven’t been shopping/walking etc, merely working all of that time. Feels like I’ve hibernated, but with considerably less sleep!

So Kevin has now got his first petrol on 2021. If be surprised if he had more than 5 for the whole of 2020. Eric had two tanks for the whole of 2020 and doesn’t need any yet. :(

Finally got the ND serviced!!.... ;)

Only two and a half months late, but with the mileage at 20,165 it won't hurt.

Nothing to report other than brakes at 50/60% worn and tyres at 4 to 5mm left, plus a brake fluid change.

Questioning now whether to keep it, or p/ex for a newer one....god I love the little thing!  :inlove:

Whatever you buy will probably cost you a lot of £s to swap, so this is where "man maths" comes into play

If you want a more powerful 2 litre model, then do it

If you want more toys (heated leather seats, built in sat nav etc), then do it

If you want a RF, then do it

If you want 2 or all 3 of the above, then definitely do it

But, otherwise you like the car you have got, it does not need any money spending on it, so save your money and keep it

There is always a way of making man maths work though!

No, No and a maybe to the first three points Mark.... (I did like the RF!)  ;)

I had a brief look yesterday at what was available and nearly all had more mileage on than mine.....some as high as 40 to 60,000!

I'd think in twelve months I'd be looking at new tyres, discs and pads just to be safe, and with the 'big' six year service possibly a spend of around £900.

Then of course the balloon payment of £5,178 in 19 months....

P/ex value at the moment is around £7,800. (Forecourt price £11,500 up!)

I saw the ad for the 100th anniversary Mx-5, and while it's lovely it comes in at over £29,000! so a new one is well out of the question!

I think I may have answered my own question!....

Spent the morning extracting the alternator from under my old Grand Vitara that's now under the ownership of the Daughters boyfriend.....

He was driving along and noticed the alternator light had come on, (but carried on!  :banghead: )....Then the temperature gauge started rising, lights came on all over the dash and it stopped!

Had it recovered to my house, to find the alternator pully looking blue, battery down on charge at 11 volts and this is the remains of the alternator belt!
