After owning three previous MX5s, a Mk2.5, a Mk3 and a Mk3.5 I bought the Sport Black in September 2012 after being retired early due to ill health. It was bought as a project vehicle for the installation of the BBR supercharger kit, something that I had been considering for a number of years ever since Cosworth started markting the kit. Once BBR took over the supercharger project it all became a bit clearer as to why Cosworth had failed with this project and what BBR had done to rectify these failings.

I installed the kit over the first two weeks of April 2013 with some 8500 miles covered by the car and from there have modified the car further with the full BBR exhaust system including the four branch manifold and sports cat. In March this year I swapped out the OEM suspension for the BBR/Koni kit as fitted to BBR's own GT 270 Turbo car, it is in effect a BBR GT260 being 10bhp down on the turbo car.

The car can be whatever you want it to be, a very docile runabout and equally a pretty quick track car, it was trialed under instruction at Knockhill Racing Circuit and embarrased a number of exotica on the track on that day.

The more I drive it,the more I love it and all the work carried out by myself which has added another dimension to the car.

To view the full charger installation works it will be a lot easier for me just to link to another site where the build id documented so to view visit

http://mx5driver.proboards.com/thread/1809/steveti-sport-black-supercharger-conversion

I hope you enjoy.

Full list of modificatons to date:

BBR-Gti supercharger, 4-1 exhaust manifold, centre section with sports cat and rear silencer.

BBT-Gti Suspension kit.

ILM upgraded anti-rolll bars (ARBs)

Schmidt CC line alloy wheels.

Black Cat custom gauge set, silver numerals on white background. AR Bonnie font.

Aluminium gauge fascia, chrome dial rings and needle caps.

Instrument binnacle covered in perforated leather.

Sport side skirts. Rear bumper sports infill panel

Voodoo gear knob, leather gearshift gaiter.

Twin UBB power ports installed in centre console.

Custom made laminated glass windbreaker, OEM pattern and mounts used.

All the above works have been carried out by myself, so it is a true labour of love.

The Geometry has also been set up for the new wheels, which are of a different offset a review of the geo is critical even for this seemingly innocuous modification and of course for the new BBR suspension kit.
