What a superb day.

Many thanks to John for planning the route.

John is a mate from Skoda Octavia days and Ive Detailied his Mk3

The weather was great, if a little cold to start with. We met up in Long Preston on the A65.at 8.00 am ..Roughly 40 minutes for me

We then drove to Ingleton and turned off towards Ribble Head Viaduct down to Hawes in Wensleydale, where a bacon buttie and Tea was in order

Here the road opened out and we drove through Appleby onto Penrith and to Alston via an awesome road to 'Hartside top' at 1900'

Unfortunately the Cafe had been destroyed by fire during the 'Beast from the East'

RULES:

From here is was downhill to sleepy Alston and a road closure forced us into a 6 mile detour to drive down to 'Middleton in Teesdale' where we had lunch in a cafe. We pushed the boat out and a Fish Finger buttie.

Onto Reeth in Swaledale via Barnard castle, where we got lost (My fault) to Leyburn and over the 'Kidstones Pass to Buckden in Wharfedale and a swift half in the Buck Inn

Finally along to Kettlewell and to Skipton where we said goodbye and went our own way home.
Fantastic day. The cars were awesome, as were the roads!

Great trip Chris. Have they started to rebuild the cafe at the top of Hartside yet? Always a good place to stop, but sadly burned down a few months ago.

Looks like a cracking day out Chris.

We as a family have visited many of the places on your route during holidays in the area when the girls were much younger, in the 1990s, many happy memories for us all wrapped up in so many of these places.

I hope someday as and if my health does improve, to revisit a few of these places in the GM, I suspect the roads will be more fun than they were on my then family barge a Renault 25, a brilliant fully loaded vehicle for the day and a quality vehicle, sad that Renault are a shadow of what they were.

When I used to live in Wensleydale it was in my biking days so that's how I remember the roads in that area (that and losing the front wheel once in a pile of cow sh***). Will need to go back with the 5 at some point.

Looks like a crack8ng day out Chris!
