My car has developed a habit of trying to stall at coming to a stop at certain junctions, these are predictable events when the engine is neither hot nor cold. Obviously I haven't really got a clue what it is and little knowledge is often dangerous. I initially discussed with BBR whether a throttle body clean is a worthwhile attempt- it looks straightforward.

BBR have decided to send me the EcuTek logging kit and we'll take it from there, then either I can send the unit back and claim a refund or keep. I suppose with a modified Mk3.5 it's useful piece of kit to have as it may save time and trouble on my behalf, rather than having to spend a day at BBR. The next car possibly will be a 3.75 Turbo at some point so there is an argument there for keeping it as well.

Not sure if the BBR will affect it, but I know there is an issue that some Mk3's> have to relearn the idle point if the if the current battery is on its way out or if a new battery has been fitted.

How old is your battery? Maybe the cold morning had an effect on it?

It happened to me a couple of winters back - I fitted a new battery and left it idling for about 20 mins then all good after that.

I'm aware of this and indeed I think I can discount this, battery is one year old in good condition with no history of recent discharge or disconnection. However what you say is entirely true regarding an idle relearn after battery disconnect.

Google suggests a throttle body issue , I assume because on closed throttle a little air is permitted through the butterfly valve normally which can get reduced by dirt, it then takes a little while for the ecu to react to restore the idle speed.

BBR want to look at the fuel trims first as they may require adjustment, so I've asked their advice and I suppose best to take it.

I did manage to chat to them about the SkyActive developments he was undertaking which are showing promise but there'll be no simply attaching a Turbo like the NC , I think he's hoping to produce a series of stepwise upgrades so the details will be interesting. I think if we can get 200bhp out the ND I think it should be a very able car if it's got the handling to match. As Steveti mentioned to me all the previous versions have had a strong Ford input but of course not now.

I bought the EcuTek kit Steve simply on the basis of doing the S/C install on a home install basis - I needed it to update the ECU post fitting. It has proven an invaluable bit of kit to have on a number of occasions, especially early days when we had a 'phantom knock' issue.

Always handy to have available just to do an occasional log as a check to ensure all is well.

Trying to perform 3rd gear power runs on busy roads isn't always easy, if it's not typical truck driver behaviour it's the 'shit' on the road from the agricultural vehicle. However I've managed to perform the data logs and Neil at BBR then sends back the updated maps.
