Saw a Miata forum based on xenForo, and I had to join up and say hi. I'm 24, owned a '95 Miata since I was 18, and sold it and bought an MSM about a year and a half ago. I absolutely LOVE the MSM. The Miata was fun, but lacking in power, to the point where I was almost embarrassed to drive it, getting beat off the line by minivans and such. The MSM fixes all of that.

I have a Flyin Miata intake and custom MBC that's allowed me to crank up the boost from the stock 8.5 to about 11 psi. This thing just FLIES now! I estimate 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds with a good launch. I also have UHP 215/40's on the car (200-280 treadwear), so it grips like mad. Even in the rain. Awesome.

And for those who say a Miata isn't made for 0-60's? Psh. I like to have fun in the corners AND the straights. And it's a good feeling when you pull a couple car lengths on a ******* in a Z-28 who claims he has "450 HP". Lol. :p

This is the best picture I have on the computer I'm currently using...

Also, if I may make a forum suggestion: Nix the administrator user approval. Seriously. If there's any good way to kill the enthusiasm of someone joining a new forum, it's to have them have to fill out a captcha, check their email for a confirmation, click on the confirmation when it arrives, AND wait to be officially improved. It's just too much. JMO.

Cool. :)

From what I gather, most of you are from Europe?
Yep UK. That itty bitty island off the coast of Europe that is very windy, rainy and still buys most of Mazda's MX-5 stock :D

Lucky, so lucky to get out....I Love England really :nah:

EDIT:
Nix the administrator user approval.
Done earlier
I used to run a site (vB3 then to vB4) on a 9 year old domain name, so you can imagine the level of spam we had.
So I inherited the caution over here to start with. Stopforumspam (SFS) is in operation anyways, so let's see how things go.

Ah, makes sense why you were concerned then. Had a good deal of spam myself before switching my gaming community forum over from phpbb. Am just using the recaptcha + email confirmation on the new xenforo setup now, so we'll see how things go.

Anyway, I'm from the US - Oregon specifically, so I can relate to the many rainy days of Britain. At least, I think I can? 250-ish days of rain a year here. No fun for a convertible, but then again, it makes the sunny days just that much better. :)

Sweet!
I'm just trying to imagine how the insurance phone call would turn out if I tried my luck with an MSM ;)
I'm sure they'd just laugh and hang up the call

It's funny, because my liability insurance actually went DOWN going from my '95 to the '04 MSM. Comprehensive coverage only went up by about $10/month, and liability went down by $3/month (IIRC), so net, it was only $7/month more for the MSM than it was for my '95.

Before I bought it, I was trying not to think about the effect on my insurance, especially still being in the <25 age bracket. Was absolutely shocked to see the insurance rates. For some reason, my wife insured on her '02 Protege5 costs more than me on my MSM, even though she's only got one speeding ticket on record and I still have two. *shrug* I attribute it to the care that most MSM owners put into their cars, and that most of them are low miles, not daily driven, etc. Regardless, I'm not complaining. :p

Great scotts! I think I paid $110/month even when I was 16 in my Escort, and it was only $150/month max when I bought the Miata! $2887 is just horrific...

Currently, our total insurance is $172/month. This includes my car, my wife's '02 Protege5, and our house insurance. Can't believe that insurance for a single old Miata would be $240/month!

Yeah, I enjoyed the Escort for what it was. If it had been RWD, I probably would have kept it a while longer.

I think the Escorts that you get in Europe are different than the ones you can get in the US though. It was a '94 Escort LX wagon, had 88hp. What do your Escorts of that time look like specs-wise?

Welcome Sgt Spike!
Just come back living in the US. I had a lovely 93LE out there. Only managed to make it up to Oregon once. Did Hwy101/1 down from Astoria to LA (not in the Miata though) and we had glorious weather!
