I used to own a Mark 1 Eunos which I bought with the intention of doing track days. I only did about 4 and then it became clear that I was unlikely to do any more (due to other commitments of my "co-driver") and so, as the car was a bit too track focused for road use (very stiff suspension etc), I sold it :(

I really enjoyed these track days and would like the chance to drive an MX5 on track again :)

So have you ever done a track day in your MX5 or would you like to do one if the opportunity arose?

I have a set of 14" wheels in my garage with slick tyres on them :) - they didn't start life as slicks but after 2 track days they have pretty much got no tread left on them :) (to be fair they were part worn tyres before the first track day). This is one of the practical problem of track days - you need a "support vehicle" to carry spare wheels etc

Never done a track day - have no desire to take Storm on one -
however, 1. someone elses(set up proper) or 2. do a hillclimb in one
The latter appeals more. Would love to do Loton Park which i've not been to since i was a young un

Thanks Ben - it is not in my neck of the woods so didn't know it. Maybe we could organise an MX5Life trip sometime to a hillclimb (to spectate  ) - went to one at Shelsley Walsh a couple of years ago and would be worth visiting again

We drive past that on most of our runs at some point so it would be a good idea (shelsley walsh)

I will have a look at the calendar for Shelsley and see if I can organise something for later in the year - I know some of their events are private members only

The reason that I bought my black Mark 1 was specifically for track days for the reasons identified by several of the replies above - the idea of track days appealled but I did not wish to wreck the Mark 2.5 that I owned at the time :frantic:

I reasoned that a £1500 car would cost me at most £1000 if I wrote it off, on the basis that I could get some money back by selling the wreck on Ebay . Track day insurance policies have high excesses, if I recall correctly 10% of the car value subject to a mimimum excess of £1000, so I did not used to bother with insurance (the rule on track is you fix your own car if it gets damaged, even if someone hits you, there is no question of trying to apportion blame)

Jot, you can do instructed days at Prescott Hillclimb, pretty sure that they do a ladies only day there too. It's the Bugatti/French event there over the coming bank holiday weekend (28th/29thMay) so if anyone wants to see a Veyron or two it's a good day out
