I'm looking at changing the head unit in my 2013 NC and I'm trying to find out what the connection is into the car. Ideally I want to get a head unit, a cable to convert the units output to the format used on the car and hence make it plug and play. However the heads I've so far looked at don't have a connector specific to Mazda although the do for many other manufacturers so I'm wondering:
Do Mazda use the same specification as anyone else?
Does the connection into the car adhere to a specific standard name/number?
Is it possible to buy the plug with crimp on end? This would be preferable to a cut & shut between two pigtails
Can anyone point me to a pin-out diagram of the connection?

All help greatfully received.

Thanks Monkeypin, that is the kind of thing I'm looking for. I assume in that photo the large plug/socket is what plugs into the car's loom and the two smaller plugs/sockets plug in to a specific head unit?
So presumably I need a lead for the specific head I choose to suit the Mazda. As the motor manufacturers don't appear to have agreed on a standard I don't suppose the head unit manufacturers have either to looking for a lead which suits both ends is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.
The alternative will be to get a lead to suit the head with flying ends and a corresponding lead for the car and for me to splice them together. What a mess.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get a plug/socket for the car with loose, crimpable, connections so I could make up a lead without having to splice?

I don't think it will be as bad as you think, any good audio supplier should be able to supply a suitable lead so when you find a head unit you want just ask the supplier if they have a lead to match. The one in my link fits Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, JVC as well as other makes.

Try these guys GD, I'm looking to fit an android double din unit to mine at some point. These guys seem to be on it. 👍
