I thought I'd started a thread on this chap but can't find it.

He's a motoring journalist with a liking for older cars. His take on the 'green car' is not to buy a new small turboed hatch but to fettle something destined for the scrap yard and keep it going. He has a small fleet of old bangers.

His other interests include 4x4s, electric vehicles and facial hair.

Watching that video Jono, his facial fungus looks remarkably familiar from a previous post!
Yes, he is the L J K Setright lookalike that I mentioned before, but I can't remember which of Jono's posts he was in.
Ah, that was it - thank you, Jono :)
Ha! I like that bloke /\ /\ /\

Thank you, Jono, I could watch his little clips for hours - he is confident, unpretentious and has enough knowledge to be entertaining and informative, all with an eccentric presentation that I find very appealing.

EDIT: I used to like LJK Setright for the same reasons.

After having driven plenty myself, I have to agree that the LDV Pilot is a crock of old *#%*@*#*!! Even when new they were rough, noisy, outdated and cramped in the cab. They were cheap though, which was their only real attraction and were popular with the impecunious and the tight-fisted!

They also had a Morris Minor-type exhaust reverberation on the overun, which was a bit of fun...brrrrrrrr-brrrrr-brrr-brrr-brrr-brrrrrrrrrmmmm...you know the sound!

HubNut is also a surprisingly good contemporary car reporter, better than many others I have watched lately.

Have a look at this...

As much as I like HubNut, I think his walking alongside the vehicle whilst it was under way was potentially "answering the door to Mr Cockup" - even at low speed, especially as it wasn't his!

I wholly empathise with his curt response to uninvited callers. I hate that too.

He's got some miserable cars hasn't he?

I mean...there are more interesting BEKO washing machines out there than that miserable little Perodua Nippa!

Nice enough fellow, but why does he bother to repair such scrap?

He really does have a collection of the most dreadful, automotive rubbish...

Sadly, due to the ever increasing piles of scrap that he is surrounding himself with, I am beginning to believe that he has a medical or psychological problem - ie, self-harming!

I still like the chap, but I am losing patience with him.

I have just found this and I hope Jono won't mind me usurping his thread!

The reason I am interested is that, back in the early 80s, the company I worked for had an estate version of this car as a company hack. It was quite a quick vehicle but no one looked after it and it eventually fell to rack and ruin, finally running it'd big-end bearings after years of thrashing and neglect!

(also, this car is ever-so-slightly better than the unholy rubbish he has been messing about with of late!)

I normally loath Korean 'some car' fodder, but this is different.

So, it is possible to polish a tu*d! :)

Nope, but you can roll it in glitter :D
The Nippa gets some new brakes.

I am purposely not going to watch this! :nah:

If I was a shallow type I would now conclude never, ever to bother with HubNut again.

But I am not shallow and I still like him. I even believe there may be a little 'tongue in cheek' going on here! ;)

I hope so!
Thank you for that, Chris.

I certainly did forward the clip! :)

A £50 Proton that he thinks is worth spending time and money on. I don't understand it.

I don't get it either.

Sadly, despite trying not to, I am coming over all "shallow"
