Mazda continued its partnership with the SOS Children's Villages organisation for a third consecutive time last year. Six Mazda national sales companies - Austria, Mazda BELUX, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, and Hungary - renewed their support, with Mazda Spain joining in for the first time. Every country took its own approach, but all continued to actively encourage their employees to become an SOS sponsor or to volunteer their time locally. This proved to be a successful supplement to financial support, not only last year, but during the two years prior as well.

"The SOS Children Villages organisation is a force of good in the world," said Jeff Guyton, President and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe. "For over 60 years their family focus has given a home and education to needy children in their own culture and religion, and this is what makes them so special. It's an honour to have helped for three years running, and an honour to work with colleagues who again and again choose to volunteer their time to this effort."
In Austria, where the SOS Children's Villages organisation was founded, Mazda supported again the Barbacus House, a therapeutically-assisted living group at the SOS village in Moosburg. Mazda BELUX contributed funds to help send SOS children on holiday with their SOS mother, or to an SOS camp or sports camp. This proved to be a highlight for the children in the past, and Mazda supported all SOS children in Belgium in this way. Mazda Croatia continued its partnership by donating a Mazda3 to the Croatian SOS Children's Villages organisation. The vehicle provides daily transport for two SOS villages in Croatia.
Mazda Czech Republic donated a "club of friends fee" for every new Mazda2 sold in the Czech Republic. This was enhanced by several events, including employees taking care of SOS students for a day and showing them their daily work. Two teenagers were also invited to visit a Czech automotive magazine and to write an article.

Mazda Motors Deutschland supported the SOS Children's Village training centre in Nuremberg again and paid for special technical equipment and a single apprentice's complete training. Monetary support was also supplied by the proceeds from a raffle of tickets to the MX-5 world record in Essen that was set late last year. Additionally, a cooking event with SOS children and famous German TV chef Tim Mälzer took place last December in Hamburg. Mazda Hungary funded free time activities and travelling to the biological parents of SOS children. Mazda employees in Hungary also volunteered to help with renovation work at the playground of SOS Children's Village in Köszeg.
Mazda's partnership last year was expanded to seven countries with the addition of Mazda Spain, which joined for the first time. Monetary support was provided to the "Collect a Million Kisses" campaign, whose goal is to help 20,000 children from Spain, Latin America and Africa to find a place in an SOS Children Village in their country. Mazda Spain also handed over two Mazda5s for transportation to a local SOS village in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, near Madrid.
