Hello Everyone,

I bought a MX5 Mk2 for my girlfriends 50th Birthday last weekend 9th Sept. I am very new to this. This is the first 'classic car' that we have owned. I am looking for help and ideas on how best to enjoy this vehicle.

I have added a question in the forum in regards to a flashing airbag light due to a sensor issue (Code 47) in the passenger seat. I would welcome any advice on how to deal with this and get a MOT. there are no other issues or advisories. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've purchased the Haynes Manual and am fairly competent with basic tools etc. We live on the borders of Essex/East London (Woodford).

Look forward to bumping in to you all in the future :)

Thank you all in advance.

Doigy

Welcome to Life!

Sensors can be bypassed - I don't what type this particular one is, but some you can bypass by simply shorting the wires together, others by adding a resistor, or cutting the sensor off altogether - just depends what signal represents "OFF"

Hi and welcome to the madhouse :)

Regarding the Air Bag light :-

Be careful when messing about with the sensor wiring as they go off with rather a large bang! (Usual caution of disconnecting battery while working on it)

Hopefully it is just a connection issue and taking the connector apart and pushing it back in again a couple of times will fix it.........

Good luck with the MOT. Please don't just disappear into the distance now that you have found us. Send the pictures and join in the fun and banter and sometimes the serious stuff.
