My wife has a hard top 09 NC1 and there's a rattle coming from the roof, we think where it joins the windscreen. I know the sun visor is a common source of noise but that's not it. I know that commonly there is a screw loose behind the sun visor fascia, but I picked up some new seats yesterday from a guy who knows MX5s, he tapped around all over the fascia and said he didn't think it was that either. It does sound 'bigger' than a screw tbh.
I have long suspected the nub on the roof itself and the channelled hole top right of the windscreen. This guy said there is foamy tape on that nub that starts to wear and often people pick it off. I don't know why I didn't half raise the roof and show him, but that's not what he was there for so maybe I didn't want to be rude. This is it, pictured. Is that as intended? It certainly looks like the other one, which is silent.
Is there maybe something in the hole I can look at? The noise is intermittent but annoying. I can just about hold a screwdriver but if it's anything more complex than that it'll have to wait for the next service.
