Seat Removal

Hello y'all out there.
I've got some nice new seat covers for my 2007 Mk3 RHT, they look great but it's a b*&&er to get the bottom seat part tight.
They come in separate parts, back and seat.

Do the seats come out, or at least come loose to make it easier to access the underneath, if I just undo the four bolts at each corner? They are electric leather seats so I'd obviously be careful about the connector when moving them.

After years of wearing a small DAB Radio on my belt I finally wore a hole in the drivers seat, that's why I got the covers otherwise I really liked the leather.

Yes DJ ....quite simple to remove after removing the bolts, and take care with the connectors for air bags/heating.

Thanks Garffey, just what I wanted to know. I'll have a go at that.
Seat covers are always the same sort of fitting, hooks on elastic, but the MX-5 is a bugger to get at underneath the seat.
Cheers

This is where I got the covers from by the way. I'm really pleased with them.
When ordering you specify the colour you want and also any other customisation. They usually have something on them, 'GT' I think it is, I asked if they can supply without lettering and they were very good.
I ordered the wrong type first and they realised from my vehicle info and advised me so I could correct the order. Very happy, they were very professional.

When it mentions 'Alicante' I assume they mean Alcantara?

Odd one that. Alcantara I think is a trade name for a type of Faux leather manufactured in Italy, which makes Alicante a copy or just a different type of Faux leather, perhaps manufactured in Spain

You might be correct - I don't suppose if it were real Alcantara they'd be £99!

I've just looked up Alcantara and it has the same sort of suede feel to it so I guess it's a rip off of the real thing, as long as it doesn't rip off of course!

Real bone fide Alccantara is a trademarked name for the material a polyester/polyurethane mix I believe invented in Japan, very hardwearing and durable.

There are of course many copies still bearing the name but generally marketed as Alcantara material ,always a way around trademarks it seems.

I have a couple of sheets of the material in the house that I had intended trying on a project but ended up just shelving it so it may well be an Alcantara type material, that's not to say it will be inferior to the trademarked material, just not the genuine article.

Thanks for all the responses and advice.
It was easier than I thought, although I got my long torque bar wrench to a couple of the very tight nuts.

Much tighter fit now and I've bent over the little hooks so they don't spring off when I'm moving around, hopefully!
Cheers and thanks again.
