Mulling over this or the pipercross venom. Any advice welcome, do either make a noise other than the sound of PayPal notifications saying "paid"....? Sound and a tiny bit of torque all I'm after. I've a 2.0 Sport 2007 cheers

To be fair to Mazda they designed the intakes of all the models - mk1 thro to mk3 - pretty well, so unless you're doing other mods, changing just the air intake is going to be a waste of money - mucho expense for very little gain. Just my opinion, others may differ. The only thing that I ever found made any noticeable difference was making a cold air feed for the Mk1s which cost just a few bob iin tubing. .... as per so..........

It's generally accepted that Mazda did a pretty good job with the intake on the NC as it draws in cold air behind the bumper, which is why BBR and the like, simply pop in a performance air filter into the existing box.

That said, the Skuzzle gets decent reviews, it's quite shiny and got a funny name so I'd go for one :)

thanks, yes the funny name is a draw. I've done back box, geo, new arbs, K&N filter, minor tune etc. Drives well, love it but the need to tinker may mean I sell next year if there's nothing left to do (at modest expense). Not interested in engine mods or coil overs or extra bracing as it'll never be on a track.

Food for thought.

As I understand things while Skuzzle were marketing the induction kit and made claims of 'significant' torque and power increases, (what constitutes significant is of course subjective) BBR had asked them for a unit so they could test it in conjunction with their modifications, the plan, again as I understand it was that BBR would, if the kit did provide significant increases, would assist in marketing the induction kit. Skuzzle declined the offer.

I know that BBR tested many different induction kits including some in-house developed kit but simply could not find any gains on either a standard engine or modded engines, like SteveH my supercharged NC has a standard induction kit and is good for over 260bhp with a good poke of torque. As Dewi has said for the NC any cold air induction kit will end up a waste of good money that could be better spent on other areas. £230 is not an inconsiderate amount of cash for a piece of kit that barring the airbox containing the filter being moved to the outside seems to be remarkable similar to the standard item.
