Hi all, I have a 2009 mk3 and I can't decide if I have an issue with the steering or possibly suspension. The car is fine on flat roads but if the road surface is uneven the front end seems to move about a bit and doesn't feel positive. When I bought the car the front offside wing had been dented by a careless van driver reversing in to it but in my opinion the blow wasn't hard enough to have bent anything. I've had the tracking checked and that is fine so I'm just wondering if this isn't unusual and I'm being paranoid or if you think its not right and could suggest any faults to look for. Its had 2 MOTs since I bought it and they haven't picked up any bent components in the suspension. It's on 17" wheels if that makes any difference.
Thanks Mike

Having said that your car is 2009 which means its the 'Facelift' I believe, that year on had quite a few tweaks to the suspension to rectify this...
Hi Garffey, do you mean a Mk3.5 as mine is definitely a Mk3 which makes me wonder if it was one of the last as everywhere I look they say the MK3 stopped in 2008.

Thanks for all the replies folks. There is a local tyre company who do 4 wheel alignment for £50 so that's probably worth trying, I work for a motor factor and one of my customers who fits tyres did say that the front 2 were "not a very good make" or words to that affect so I may look into getting a better pair. The MOT is due in March so I'll ask the tester to pay particular attention to the bushes just to rule those out as well. Fingers crossed I'll get it sorted as it's a bit unnerving and that's coming from someone who drives a Series 1 Land Rover
