Not so glamorous as you peeps I'm afraid...spent an afternoon trying to touch in a multitude of stone chips over the front, sides and even on the rear deck area. The flanks of my Mk3.5 are absolutely peppered with stone chips - like someone has flicked a white paintbrush at it.
I only have to touch the paint and there is a scratch or mark.
I fitted the absurdly expensive Mazda front mudflaps but these have made no difference.
I know I tend to drive it quite hard but no more than a sports car should be. This problem has been well documented on other forums that the paint finish on these newer models is just not durable enough for modern (Poor) road conditions and certainly not as good as older cars.
My heart sinks every time I wash it - only to discover more damage to the soft, thin paint finish :(

What comments from other Mk3 and 3.5 owners??

What??!!!...you were lucky, we had to trudge barefoot 20 miles in a raging blizzard to our school, then be beaten soundly and repeatedly until we 'learned', then eat a stale, dry crust with some dirt and a little water for lunch, then be beaten again, then we would trudge home naked in a snowstorm to our cold, dark, joyless homes where we would be beaten with gruel and sent to our damp, dark and joyless beds, where we would say our prayers of thanks before a final beating. Then up at four, chop the logs, clean the coal cellar, scrape the walls and trudge once again...

...never did me no 'arm!...it didn't!...(twitch)

Nice photo :) (you still need the clear repeators though!)

Sounds a good way to spend your birthday too :)
Go on then Mark...what an opportunity...buy him some clear repeaters for his birthday! :D

Went to the flicks with Mrs Kev (haven't been for donkey's years) and saw "The Iron Lady" - I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Meryl Streep was fantastic as M T and I still don't know how a girl from New Jersey can do such a convincing 'Maggie' voice and English accent. She took the part superbly and this film is a 'must see' in my honest opinion. Very well done.

There's that Cameron bloke in London. Abu Hamza and that other terrorist twat that should have been on a plane to Jordan 6 years ago. The bint in a Mazda 3 that nearly pushed me into the central barrier as she came onto the M4 last weekend, slip road to lane 3 in one move, regardless of who was already there. Simon Cowell has a face I could never tire of hitting. Need many more?
Yes, all HSE execs.

May have made myself look a bit of a plonker on the OC. May have got hold of the wrong end of the stick somewhat. But hey after everything that's gone on over there who could blame me. I have apologised to the guy it was aimed at.
Ha! oh well, don't worry too much about it flea - we ALL make mistakes from time to time...it's what makes us human after all. No one is more outspoken than I am and I'm frequently saying the wrong thing or getting the ''wrong end of the stick'' and dropping a huge b*llock!!
The main thing is, we ALL need to be able to 'move on' and 'let it go' etc. Life's just too short isn't it?
I hope the "guy" in question can see it that way. Good luck m8

Hiya Jo...t'was good to see an exultation of '5s (all mks) together on 'our' patch! I was driving a National Express coach at the time (service 502 Westward Ho! to London Victoria) and got a strange look from the middle-aged guy at the front of the convoy in a yellow mk2 (not Ali's Eric!) because I forgot I was at work and ... flashed my headlights and waved!! (what a plonker!!)
Do you ever do this when you're in the 'meat wagon'?? :roflmao:

Very well done that man, I sincerely hope he didn't accidently trip over, or bump into the shed door whilst you were hanging on to him and severely hurt himself, or anything??:thumbsup:

^^^^^Superb results Hammy!!
How do you do so much in such a short time?? It takes me about half a day to wash and wax mine (one car!) and about two hours to do the wife's Aygo...and that's without claying! (I have never used clay, although I've heard that it gives good results - yours bears testimony to that - immaculate cars you have there ) Also, as I've deliberated on here before, the paintwork on my two year old is absolutely peppered with stone chips and light scratches. It's quite depressing because, like yourself, I love to keep my motor looking like new as far as possible.
