Went on the NWOC run to Kettlewell with 31 other 5s, and we bumped into about 25 Peaks and Pennines OCers.

Jut starting with with the annual battle of 'Insurance prices'.... 🤔
Just got the CX-3 done for £257.48 with Hastings after their initial quote of £292.
Got a quote for the Mx in at £272 with my present insurance....and a quote from 'Flow' an LV offshoot at £183 ...
With the Vitara still to come...😢

Oh and then the bikes!....😭

Thought I'd do the front brakes on the ND as they were reported 95% worn at service in February...
Got it jacked up and wheel off, but still a good bit of life left in the pads yet so put the wheel back on!
And gave it a wash instead.... :giggle:

All the garages I've ever dealt with have tried that old chestnut, Chris. Fancy them saying they're 95% worn when they clearly aren't!

I am an old fashioned chap and completely abhor blatant lies just for the purposes of profiteering. They must think we all rode up the Clyde on a bike!!

Good job some of us are clued-up mate 👍😊

On my first Mot 10yrs ago they said I needed new pads and a silencer and I've still not renewed them 20,000miles later and it still passes it's Mot.

Taxed the Hornet and had a run out of about 30 miles...
Superfour had it's first run since it's breakdown....and this time I didn't have to push it home!.🤭
Oh and insured the ND as well.....

(Rant coming)......😤

Been battling with the insurance for the Vitara, I told Adelaide insurance a few days back I would ring them on the 21st. (as pay day was the 20th)
Guess what....They rang me at work yesterday at 18.37!!...So, I re-iterated that I would ring them Saturday morning....
They rang me again about 9.45 this morning!!....I had a couple of little things to do I said (Trip to the post office, and call for some petrol) so then would phone them back.

At 10:47 I rang them....The lady dealing with my renewal was talking to another customer and almost done they said, they then played me the usual recorded message prior to renewal.... she was just done they said and would connect me through....For another 10 minutes I was kept hanging on the phone with the most god awful music, So I put the phone down! 🤬
They then rang another 3 times between 11.07 and 11:21....I ignored it. ( and not even a voice-mail in apology).
So that's custom on both my cars they've lost this time!

This afternoon .....
I went to take out another policy (£15 cheaper) with 'Quote me happy' (Internet only)....And was almost at the point of payment, when it asked me to create an account.
It then picked up on a previous e-mail address as the wifey was insured with them a few years back, could I remember the password?????....Nah.
Aarrrrrggghhhhhh..................
So now, I've to wait for an e-mail reply (up to 24hrs) so I can re-set my password!

Bugger!....Bloody insurance companies!😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬

A (y) (y) to 'Quote me happy' who in under 2 hours phoned me, re-set my password took payment and e-mailed my documents.
Feeling a bit happier now....
And I don't even have to ring Adelaide back to get my no claims proof....As it's all confirmed on-line.

Rant over.....😁

Had a lovely topless drive over to Colne again to collect some more parts for the (still not starting) Superfour....a brief shower on the way back had the top back up but by the time I got to Queensbury it was very warm and sunny again.
Once home I Tinkered with the Superfour a bit more, suspecting the side-stand cut out switch was faulty (still no joy....Sigh), also drained the carbs as the V-power I last put in it last November is going off a bit.
So, I took the Hornet out, did about 15 miles and got caught in a bit of a downpour, so hid under a bridge for a bit!..🙄.....Then did about another 5 miles when the sun came out to 'dry off' 😁.

Took the CX-3 over to Steve Edwards this morning....
He'll have it for a few days, he was on about how flexible the plastic lower section is (it really is) and he may make additional support for the structure as he works on it, and may reinforce it with fibreglass....
Having seen his work I have no qualms, and I'm sure he'll save the bumper!

A couple of weeks back I ordered a new o/s rear caliper for the grandsons Mini, (I got sent a Corsa coil-pack!)...
So after resolving that issue finally got one delivered and we set too fitting it yesterday....He's now got new discs/pads all around.
But not much fun fitting them in 25 degrees of sunshine!...🥵
Just a couple of small jobs now and hopefully it's m.o.t ready....No massive rush as he hasn't started driving lessons yet.
My how quick they grow up!!!!!!!!! 😌

I know what you mean about the heat yesterday Chris, my weather station was showing over 30 deg C yesterday while I had the GM up on ramps trying to trace what appeared to be a very slight coolant leak. Absolutely typical of course, got it up in the air, removed the under tray and despite running the car for about 45 minutes to get it properly hot and system pressurised - not a bleedin' drop to be seen nor any trace of where the water spotted under the car during a trip up North last week had come from.

Frustrated? Yes. Hot? Oh yes!! Not a happy combination. Still, I'll get a few little tidy up jobs done while it's on the ramps, make the most of it.

Still on the Ramp theme ..... got a bit more tidying up done on the Eunos today . Fitted a new Heatshield and got busy with the Dinitrol Drohnex and POR 15 . Most of the box sections and cavities have been treated with Dinitrol ML already.

Last week while up North Yorkshire I called at the other 'Mathewson's' depot in Pickering, sadly the place is closed unless by appointment to view, but managed to snap a couple of the motors outside that took my eye!
