We all drive MX5s so will your next car be another MX5 (if so which version?), something else (if so what?) or is your MX5 a keeper for life?

I have owned MX5s for more than 11 years and cannot imagine not owning one. I am fortunate to have another car as a daily driver so the MX5 is a fun car for weekend and summer use and I can put up with it's impracticalities, such as only being able to take one passenger at a time and the small boot.

As to which version of the MX5 I would next buy I don't really know, but if the Mark 3.5 or Mark 4 was available in yellow as a Roadster Coupe then I would be seriously tempted :)

Can't imagine life without one now.... Not sure how long I will be able to keep two cars, and have to agree they are not good when you need a car any weather when you work a long way from home., or when shopping. However I love my 5. I am prepared to give up other luxuries to keep him!

Spot on dude. Real world melts away when I'm behind the wheel. Don't have time to think about anything if going round corners properly. Really bad days are not a problem, as long as you have the promise of a good drive. And waxing and polishing too, very therapeutic :)

As my lovely wife bought me my 5 for my 50th, I can't see me selling it any time soon. I too have the luxury of having a daily driver (a 13 y.o. Pug 106) which is still in reasonable condition with lowish miles for the year and with it being such an ordinary small car, it makes driving the 5 so special. We both love getting out in the 5 whenever we can and we're for France in it this year for our holidays. Also, as it is the only Launch Edition in Northern Ireland (that we know off), that makes the car even more special. So she's a keeper for sure.

Sorry for posting another pic, but I can't help it !!!! :?:

Have to agree with you guys. There is nothing like a drive in an MX5 to put a smile on your face and the stresses of life just seem to melt away once you are behind the wheel :)

Maybe MX5 therapy should be available on prescription. You pay your £7 or £8 (whatever it is these days :( ) and get to drive an MX5 for an hour (petrol cost not included though!!). What do you reckon - a lot of happy, smiling faces has got to be a good thing surely :)

MX5 forever lol

Only time I would consider changing my little 5 would be for a new one!
As I use mine everyday I really agree with the therapy side of things after a crap day at work a top down drive home is the answer :)

Iain and I are both on our second ones, they are our only cars too. We bought a cheap runaround to see us through the worst of the winter and sold it last month.
We were a wee bit concerned about having 2 of them and no other vehicle but really, it's not caused us any problems.

Can't imagine us not having at least one MX5 between us, but if we went down to one, we'd probably fight over who's it was :D:

I'd love a yellow one though, this is what I wanted but sadly not in this country :( one day maybe, that's when I'll replace mine :)

All things being equal.. yes replace... with another 5 - gonna be hard since she is my first
I do like the idea of having something else but that's atleast 2 years away.
Want an Alfa at some time - watched a Guilietta glide by me today. Verrry nice but that's too expensive so want an old one - if only for 6 months - and a 4x4 at some point so i can do what i can't with Storm. Do some legal green-laning type stuff.
Even having another classic mini for a short while appeals to me

For me i'm not sure as i want to try a 4wd turbo, as i've driven a lot of evo's and just love the levels of performance and grip, or keep in the Mazda family and get a rx7 twin turbo but if i do have another mx5 it will have a turbo and if i can find another splashy it will be in that colour or in yellow like another certain mx5. As things are now i'm keeping the mx5 and thinking long and hard what i want to do. Or i might just keep it and get a turbo car as a run around.:D;)

I think if Mazda ever brought out a yellow MX5 Mark 3.5 or Mark 4 in this country it would be a surefire winner :)
They are not driving mine though!
Maybe what we need to do is buy up a load of MX5s, paint them yellow and rent them to the NHS. If we charge, say, £6 an hour for 40 hours a week then that would bring in more than £12000 income in a year which should cover the cost of buying them, respraying, insurance, maintenance etc - after all they don't need to be brand new MX5s

We could then let our friends drive them for free on Sundays :)

I like the look of the 500 Abarth and would imagine it is great fun to drive, although I would have a Mini Cooper S if I was in the market for a small car myself :) (definitely no Puntos for me )

Having said that there is no way I would swap my MX5 for a FWD hot hatch. I drive a Golf GTi as my "sensible car", and a nice car it is too :), but although it is quicker than the MX5 and more practical, it is definitely not as much fun to drive as the MX5!!

I am lucky that I can afford to own more than one car so can have practicality and fun in 2 different cars, but if I could only have one car then it would be an MX5 :) (and I would borrrow my wife's car when I need practicality!!)

My wife had a Cooper S (not the Works model) - the supercharger whine was addictive :), it was very quick :) and the handling was brilliant on a smooth road but otherwise the run flat tyres were a nightmare and it would jump all over the road :(. It used to drink petrol too for a small car :(
